SATISFACTORY BUSINESS RESULTS FOR 1995

backforward
Fiscal year 1995 saw sales and total output of the company once again increase significantly as compared with the previous period. Thanks to a high level of orders on hand at the beginning of 1995, coupled with a satisfactory order intake in the course of the year and good performance on the special machinery sector, production capacity remained fully utilised throughout the year. The dominant sales markets for DORNIER rapier and airjet weaving machines were, in order of importance, the USA, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Belgium and France.

The company's success in the USA were due mainly to the traditional strengths of the DORNIER rapier weaving machines in the production of furnishing, decorative and industrial textiles - particularly on the airbag fabrics sector. The airjet weaving machine concept finally made inroads into the home textiles market, with good sales figures reported - particularly in the case of the large-width jacquard-type machines.

DORNIER rapier weaving installation at PratoIn Italy especially, thanks to the success of the rapier weaving machine, the good position enjoyed by the company in the fashion weaving segment was further expanded. The total of approx. 300 weaving machines sold in 1995 also included major sales to the Prato region.

In Germany, the success of DORNIER's rapier weaving machines was augmented by the fact that, for the first time, its airjet weaving machines also broke new ground, gaining an entry into the high-quality single colour spun fabrics sector.

The Turkish market was particularly successful for DORNIER, with its results there clearly showing the importance of the system family concept which encompasses its rapier and airjet weaving machine designs. 1995 also saw the company's wide multipanel airjet weaving machines achieve a breakthrough in the heavy denim and dense industrial fabrics markets, with facilities being commissioned in Chile, China, Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic, Uruguay andVenezuela.

The popularity of these machines is attributable to their rugged stability, superior productivity and the outstanding level of quality which they produce. Demand on the international textile machine market has weakened. However, DORNIER is confident that, with the exceptionally high level of orders on hand for special and customised machinery, it can look forward to positive operating results and corporate earnings in 1996 as in the year 1995.
