DORNIER Dryers - the guarantee for high product quality and low energy consumption

Many products require drying or heat treatment before they are ready for use. In 1954 we have been asked for the first time to develop a dryer. Ever since, the Lindauer DORNIER GmbH is providing solutions to our customers´ existing applications as well as for new products.

Both products and processes undergo a permanent development. And based on our long-term expertise we are in a position to deliver reliable drying systems, designed and engineered to specific customer requirements. We welcome your inquiry.

In general, most of the DORNIER convection dryers are equipped with two characteristic components: a conveyor belt for each deck to ensure save and gentle transportation of the wet product and air-jet nozzles to create a uniform distribution of the hot air.

The conveyor belt supports sensitive products or products with low wet strength all the way from the inlet zone of the dryer up to its exit zone. Typical downtimes known in industry due to machine plugging and subsequent loss of production can be overcome with our belted dryers.

Airing system

As part of a re-circulating airing system the nozzles are arranged above and below the product. Hot air is forced out of the nozzle holes or slots by means of axial or radial fans. The enhanced heat transfer shortens dwelling times. Focusing on low electrical power consumption the axial re-circulating fans are the preferred design, where applicable.

The DORNIER dryers are of modular design with up to 12 decks. Products as wide as 12 ft are consistently dried in all decks. Evaporation capacities of more than 20 tons/hour have been supplied.

Thermal energy consumption has become a more and more important figure when controlling the operational costs. Therefore we combine the DORNIER dryers with heat recovery systems, minimize thermal losses and use high quality insulation materials.

Our scope of supply also includes the loading and unloading sections like tipples, elevators, buffers, accelerating belts, unwinders as well as cooling units, roller conveyors etc. Within a total production line also this equipment has to be thoroughly designed in order to serve the process and product best possible.

On-site installation, commissioning of all components, training of operator personnel and, of course, ongoing after sales assistance are all included in our customer relationship services.

At the beginning, DORNIER dryers and heat treatment machines were designed for paperboard / cardboard. Later on, filter materials, leather fibre and nonwovens became successful products manufactured by our customers. A dryer with special through-air convection system has been applied for thermobonding of air-laid nonwovens.

In 1980 the DORNIER dryer entered the construction panel industry. No matter if gypsum or cement board, ceiling tiles or insulation softwood panels have to be dried, for each and every single product we have developed special features to ensure that the equipment will perform to specification.

Extruded flat sheet made of e.g. PE or PP can be foamed as wide as 3 m without surface scratches. This is possible by a non-contact transportation of the material on an aircushion in the DORNIER foaming oven.
