DORNIER transverse stretching and crystallizing machines (TDOs)

DORNIER transverse stretching and crystallizing machines for the production of polyester, polypropylene, nylon or other plastic film.

The DORNIER TDOs are well known as very robust machines with excellent airing system and different types of rail and clip systems for different applications. The DORNIER transverse stretching and crystallizing or heat setting machines can be supplied with chain rail systems, where the returning rails are located inside of the oven or with chain rail systems for the production of polyester or PA film, where the returning rails are located outside of the oven. DORNIER offers special clips for thin film production (0.8 – 50 µm), for medium thickness range (50 – 125 µm) and for thick film production up to 350 µm. One thing, however, which all DORNIER transverse stretching and crystallizing machines have in common, is the endless monorail clip guiding system guiding the clips from the inlet up to the end of the machine and back to the inlet, without any interruption. By this system the oil consumption for the clips is as low as approx. 40 cm³ per day and machine, even at speeds over 350 m/min.

The ovens for the transverse stretching or heat setting machines are floating ovens supported on ball bearings, allowing heat expansion under controlled condition (DORNIER ovens are not fixed on the floor). Each oven zone (available with a length of 3 m or 4.5 m) is equipped with only one heater and one blower. The upper and lower nozzles are arranged in blocks allowing operators to pass through an oven from one side to the other side, which is of help in case of maintenance work or when film particles must be removed. On the DORNIER oven excellent air velocity distribution and temperature uniformity can be reached such as ± 1 °C, even on a production line with 9 m width. In case of a film break, where operators have to enter to remove film particles inside of the oven, it is possible in case of a DORNIER oven to enter inside of the oven within a period of 1 minute after switching off heating. It is further possible after a time span of approx. 5 minutes to pass through the oven. When film particles are removed, the necessary temperature to allow starting of production can be reached after approx. 15 minutes. DORNIER ovens can be heated by thermo oil, steam, electrically or in combination and in case of production of OPP film also direct gas-fired ovens are available.

All DORNIER clips are equipped with ball bearings and DORNIER TDOs are in operation up to production speeds of 500 m/min.
